The city of Rosario will have a new transport system that will reach the industrial belt. The project product of the public private synergy, which has strong political support, plans to be launched in the first months of the year.
The owner of the Rio Bus company, Cristian Garcia, responsible for the project, said that the novelty responds to a paradigm of Transport of the future, multimodality“From a personal point of view, this idea arose based on the requirements of the port terminals themselves, but it was always very difficult to sustain financially.”
Following a cost-demand research project and considering the viability of the service, the project began to be outlined, which in a few months will link Rosario with the industrial belt through the Paraná.
García clarifies: “The idea is that it is a coastal connectivity system, which is not framed in tourism, we focus on multimodality. There are sixty seats in this first stage, and in terms of costs, the price will undoubtedly be higher than that of the bus ticket, but much lower than that of the taxi.”
El The trip is estimated between fifty minutes, and one hour. The service would be carried out four daily trips starting its journey in Puerto General San Martin.
The boat is similar to an intercity transport, with air conditioning and a cafeteria on board. The schedule, as well as the check-in, will be available online, reducing costs and facilitating the administration of the service.
The provincial Secretary of Transportation, Pablo Jukic, confirmed that the service, “based on private initiative, is at a very advanced stage,” and “is in line with the connectivity axes” established by the Santa Fe government to expand land and air communication options.
River cruises
For his part, the president of ENAPRO, Angel Elias, revealed that the conditions for operating from the river are optimal and have given rise to other ongoing initiatives; such as the pParaná River Cruise Project promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation, next to several ports of the Hydroway, and collaborative trade with the port of Colonia, to promote a connection that must be assumed by private investors.
"This project reflects the growing possibilities of river transport for tourism purposes and even for public transport in the metropolitan area," said the President of ENAPRO.
