In the extensive mission of almost 20 days, Authorities from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries will visit the General Administration of Customs of China (GAC), where protocols and conditions for the entry of products of animal, plant and fishery origin are negotiated.

The Uruguayan delegation will also visit various Chinese fairs, and will later visit Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen.

“We have expectations of improve product access and poultry meat, tripe, lemons", and will seek to advance the procedures for the habitation of the sorghum, Mattos said.

The delegation will also hold meetings to negotiate the health protocols required for products such as rapeseed and wheatAlso fish products (wild and living species).

The minister expressed interest in managing the export of grains, cellulose, forestry products, and wool, as well as trying to resume the purchase of wool of larger diameter. “We have a significant stock in the hands of producers and it must be resolved,” since there is a problem of overstock, he acknowledged.

“Uruguay has a very good reputation and a very good bilateral, political and economic relationship with China,” Mattos said. This mission is part of a sequence that began with the visit of Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo, will continue with the trip of the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries and will be consolidated with the visit to that country of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, in the second half of this year.
