Trade surplus reached USD 1.667 billion in September

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) released this Thursday (21.10.2021/1.667/598) the information on the Argentine Trade Exchange (ICA), which recorded a result of USD 2020 million in September, an improvement compared to the USD XNUMX million of the same period in XNUMX.

The progress is explained by the fact that Exports increased 59,8% and reached USD 7553 million.

Meanwhile, Imports increased by 42,6 % to reach USD 5886 million.

Thus, trade exchange (exports plus imports) accumulates a favorable balance of USD 12.322 million.

In the nine months, export prices show an increase of 29,7 % compared to the same period in 2020 that together with the increase in the amounts of the 23,3%, explain the increase in $2.826 million for foreign sales.

All items increased en relation to last year. The percentage variation is as follows: fuels and energy (CyE), 135%; primary products (PP), 106,4%; manufactures of agricultural origin (MOA), 43,8%; and manufactures of industrial origin (MOI), 32,3%.

Imports also grew, but at a moderate rate due to the weight of the national economy and trade management measures applied through non-automatic licenses. In this regard, purchases increased by USD 1.757 million, as a result of a 19,6% increase in quantities and a 19,0% increase in prices.

All economic uses registered positive percentage variations, except passenger motor vehicles (VA), which fell by 36,4%. Items such as capital goods (BK), intermediate goods (BI) and parts and accessories for capital goods (PyA) increased by 35,0%, 54,6% and 51,2% respectively. Fuels and lubricants rose by 77,8%, while consumer goods rose by 20,1%.

Destinations

In September, the main destinations for Argentine exports were Brazil, China, Chile, India, United States, Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Netherlands, Peru and Spain.

The top ten countries of origin of imports were China, Brazil, United States, Germany, Paraguay, India, Thailand, Italy, Mexico and Spain.

The most significant surpluses in September were in trade with Chile, USD 344 million; the Republic of Korea, USD 274 million; India, USD 245 million; Vietnam, USD 226 million; the Netherlands, USD 216 million; Brazil, USD 214 million; Peru, USD 166 million; Algeria, USD 148 million; Indonesia, USD 110 million; and Malaysia, USD 99 million.

The largest deficits were recorded with China, USD 665 million; Germany, USD 168 million; United States, USD 151 million; Thailand, USD 119 million; Mexico, USD 83 million; Egypt, USD 62 million; France, USD 43 million; Italy, USD 42 million; Paraguay, USD 34 million; and Hungary, USD 29 million.
