The Government implemented the suspension of the export of "preferred" cuts (fresh, chilled or frozen) of beef that began to take effect on January 1 and will extend until December 31, 2023, through the Resolution 2/2022.
The regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, published this Thursday (06.01.2022) in the Official Gazette, apply to the provisions of Decree 911/2021 of December 30.
Thus, the official text states in its Article 1: "The suspension is hereby implemented, from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023 inclusive, of the export of the merchandise referred to in Article 2 of Decree No. 911 dated December 30, 2021, under the conditions provided therein and without prejudice to the provisions of Articles 2 and 3 of Resolution No. 301 dated December 30, 2021 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries."
The new resolution clarified that the suspension "does not extend to merchandise for which the corresponding export request for consumption had been registered prior to the effective date of Decree No. 911/2021."
The measure affects roast beef with or without bone, skirt, flank, topside, rump, shoulder and flank. Thus, these cuts were assigned only to the domestic market.
