The Government distributes import quota for tractors, trucks, chassis with engine and motors

The Ministry of Productive Development distributed an import quota for tractors, trucks, chassis with engines and motors, all powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), through the Provision 5/2020 of the Undersecretariat of Industry published this Thursday (22.101.2020) in the Official Gazette.

The current distribution quota is 20 engines; 20 chassis with engine and cabin or with engine; and 80 road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks, all running on CNG, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or Biogas, which may be imported with the planned tariff reduction, corresponding to the period between October 2 and January 1, 2021.

Another quota of 1,000 people is added to this group. four chassis with CNG engine and cabin, not used in previous quarters.

According to Decree 440/2019, engines, chassis with engine and cabin, or with engine, all powered by CNG, LNG or biogas, pay an extra-zone import duty (DIE) of 2%.

Meanwhile, the Road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks that use engines with the same fuels must pay a 5% DIE.

On this occasion, the Industry portfolio assigned to Industrial Driver's License 24 chassis with engine and cabin and 57 tractors.

In addition, applications from CNH Industrial for 13 vans that "cannot be classified as trucks, so they are not included" in the quota were rejected, as well as from Mercedes Benz for a chassis that is also not included in the benefit.

Meanwhile, December 2nd was established as the deadline for companies interested in importing goods to submit a quota application for the period from January 2 to April 1, 2021.
