The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries made official the export quota of beef to Colombia for this year, through the Resolution 24 / 2023.

The regulations, published this Wednesday (25.01.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, indicate that after receiving authorization from Mercosur of a Quota of 892,735 tons of meat (higher than the 875,231 of 2022) and verify the proper registration and health clearances of the applicants, the portfolio authorized the export of the same by distributing the allocation to 22 refrigerators, The vast majority of them – with the exception of three – had authorizations for 42,828 tons each.

Likewise, the rule establishes that such quantity to be exported must enter Colombia until 31th December 2023.

The cuts belonging to said eShipments do not include so-called “fine cuts” where the tenderloin, rump and loin are found, not ground or cut into pieces, vacuum-packed and labeled, which are governed by another quota.

The meat quota for Colombia is an annual export tariff quota for meat in force through the Economic Complementation Agreements (ACE) No. 59 between the countries of Mercosur and those of the Andean Community of Nations, signed in 2004.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, together with Europe (through the Hilton Quota and 481), the United States, Israel and Chile, among other countries, Colombia is one of the destinations with pre-established meat quotas that is exempt from the restriction regimes that currently cover seven popular cuts of Argentine beef.
