The Government approves new rules for the allocation of the Hilton Quota

The Ministry of Agriculture approved this Monday (03.06.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) a new set of regulations for the allocation of  the Hilton Quota, intended for export to the countries of the European Union and the United Kingdom, by Resolution 274/2023.

The regulation, published this Monday (03.06.2023), in the Official Gazette states: "The general rules of the legal regime for the allocation and distribution of the tariff quota for high-quality boneless, fresh and chilled beef, granted by the European Union and the United Kingdom, are hereby approved."

The new parameters They will apply to the export period in force from July 1 of this year to June 30, 2024 and the two following periods from 1/7/24 to 30/6/25 and from 1/7/25 to 30/6/26.

The term of registration For the 2023/2024 cycle, it will start today and will last for a period of ten calendar days.

 Interested parties must complete the initial form, “Application for access to an export license – Hilton Quota 2023/2024”, through the Remote Procedures Platform (TAD) and attach the required documentation.  

Following Britain's decision to leave the European Union, the total quota of 29.400 tonnes is distributed between 29.389 tonnes to be distributed among all countries in the bloc and the remaining 111 tonnes to be allocated to the United Kingdom.  

The 29.389 tonnes will be distributed up to 90% for the industry category and up to 10% for the joint projects category.

The quota of 111 tonnes for the United Kingdom will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis only among those applicants who are authorised to export to this destination.

«That the evaluation criteria based on the FOB value of exports, weighted over a period of time, with defined subjects and categories, with maximum and minimum commercially viable limits, with simple management standards, waiver periods and free funds available have been agreed upon between the member states of Mercosur for their harmonization", the Resolution states. 

The Hilton Quota is made up of chilled cuts without anatomical bones or in portions: sirloin steak, rump, tenderloin, flank steak without top, inside rump, outside rump (or their individual cuts: peceto and tail or square meat), loin ball, and thin skirt, with the variants that each individual market prefers.
