This week, the Director General of Customs, Diego Dávila, participated in the seminar on “Trade Facilitation Policies” in the Republic of Korea, aimed at the directors of customs administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean. The main objective of the meeting was to promote new initiatives to facilitate foreign trade.
The event, which took place between Tuesday and Friday in Seoul, was organized by the Korea Customs Service (KCS).
In the opening speech of the plenary session, Dávila highlighted the progress achieved in Argentina on issues related to trade facilitation, such as the Aid to Facilitate Trade (AFT) strategy, led by the WTO; the Single Window for Foreign Trade (SWFT); Risk Management; and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO). He also met with Yung-Moon Kim, administrator of the KCS (Korea Customs Service).
In general terms, the meeting sought to strengthen mutual cooperation between Latin American customs. for the smooth implementation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) trade facilitation agreement, which was signed in February 2017.
In addition, issues related to emerging technologies were addressed, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and data analysis.
