The figures were delivered by the Regional Director (s) of the Iquique Customs, Ricardo Aceituno Chau, to the regional ministerial secretary for Women and Gender Equality, Noemí Salinas Polanco, on the occasion of a professional visit in the context of Women's Month.

Aceituno Chau highlighted that, on the occasion of International Women's Day, a giant poster was displayed on the front of the institutional building in homage to all the work of colleagues and their multiple roles.

La Seremi Noemi Salinas She praised the intervention and highlighted that Customs values the efforts made by women in the different missions entrusted to them. “These actions to raise awareness are very important, since they contribute to social and cultural change in favor of substantive equality of rights. The significant presence of women in Customs is a good sign and I want to send them my most fraternal greetings and recognition for their work, which often involves working shifts and away from home.”

The regional minister added that “we are in charge of promoting formal and substantive equality of rights and seeking the elimination of all forms of violence and arbitrary discrimination due to gender. That is why we want to highlight actions such as those of Customs, where in addition to the discourse, concrete actions of equality and respect are seen,” she added.

Finally, the Regional Director (s), Ricardo Aceituno, said that his customs colleagues carry out multiple actions, ranging from the granting of franchises and processing of documents, to monitoring actions against organized crime.

“We are very proud and grateful for the female presence in our Service. In fact, today for the first time in our history we are led by a female National Director, who after a successful career in the institution managed to reach the highest position,” she stressed.
