The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will hold an online international conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence in times of COVID-19: Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean” that will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

In order to facilitate the exchange of experiences and learnings among the various actors in the region, the meeting, which focuses on the use of artificial intelligence to help combat COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean, will take place at the following times:

16:30–18:00 CEST (Paris, Brussels)

12:30–14:00 GMT-3 (Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Santiago)

11:30–13:00 GMT-4 (Santo Domingo)

10:30–12:00 GMT-5 (Bogotá, Lima)

Topics of the online session

The event will begin with introductory speeches by Andrew Wyckoff, Director in charge of the OECD's Science, Technology and Innovation Directorate, and Andreas Schaal, Director of the OECD's Global Relations Secretariat.

Immediately afterward, specialists from the Science, Technology and Innovation Directorate, Karine Perset and Luis Aranda, will give a presentation entitled “Using artificial intelligence to combat COVID-19.”

This will be followed by a debate with Cristina Pombo, Senior Advisor and Head of the Digital and Data Working Group, Social Sector, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); José Gustavo Sampaio Gontijo, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Digital Innovation, Secretariat of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Brazil; Constanza Gómez-Mont, Founder and CEO, C-Minds; José Antonio Guridi, Advisor to the Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Chile; María Isabel Mejía, Senior Executive in Digital Government, Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and Massimo Craglia, Principal Scientist of the Digital Economy Unit, European Commission.

The meeting will be concluded by Director Andrew Wyckoff of the OECD's Science, Technology and Innovation Directorate.
