China confirmed the authorization of 28 Argentine establishments for the export of meat from our country, which includes 26 bovine refrigerators, in addition to a cold storage plant and a poultry plant, within the framework of the international tour led by the Secretary of Agroindustry of the Nation, Luis Miguel Etchevehere.

These are new advances after the agreement that Argentina and China made last May, from which the following agreements were signed: Beef protocols for the inclusion of chilled meat with and without bone and frozen meat with bone, which are added to the frozen boneless meat that was already exported.

In this regard, Etchevehere highlighted the consolidation of bilateral relations with China and stressed that "this is a very important step that deepens the bond between our countries, in which We have been working in a coordinated manner with officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Argentine Embassy in China.”

Exports

The Argentine Ambassador to China, Diego Guelar, highlighted that “In the first half of 2018, Argentine beef exports to China have increased by 119% compared to the same period last year. Argentina now accounts for 20% of Chinese beef imports and China in turn purchases 55% of national beef exports.”

New health scenarios

In addition, during a meeting attended by the head of SEnasa, Ricardo Negri, and officials from the Chinese Customs made progress in negotiations for the opening of markets for pork and offal, taking into account the new health scenarios. Likewise, a working method was agreed between the health organizations, to continue to move forward quickly in the authorization of new establishments in the short term.

Two-way agreements

In addition, work priorities were set with a view to the state visit to Buenos Aires by Chinese President Xi Jinping, within the framework of the G20 leaders' meeting. At that time, a series of protocols are expected to be signed, including the two-way agreement on pork, access to cherries, honey, live horses, and access to the Chinese market for sheep and goats from Patagonia.

Secretary Etchevehere also outlined the negotiation agenda to continue advancing in the access of new Argentine products, including soy flour, pecan nuts, wheat, sorghum and lemons.

At the end of the meeting, the health protocols for the export of bovine semen and embryos to China were signed.

In this regard, Etchevehere indicated that "We are exporting intelligence and added value through our bovine genetics. “It is 100 years of livestock selection in our country.”
