More than USD 250 thousand dollars worth of contraband goods were seized over the weekend by inspectors from the National Customs Service and Army personnel in the border area of Colchane, between the Republic of Chile and the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
The coordinated work is part of operations to protect border areas in order to combat organized crime and bring peace to the community.

As a result of joint operating room 1 dump truck, 1 dump truck and 1 refrigerated truck, 29 Lenovo Legion 5i notebooks, 100 Lenovo IdeaPad notebooks, 978 original Nike sneakers and 95 bales of new clothing, among other merchandise, were seized. All of this amounted to a value of more than USD 250 thousand dollars and was seized.

The work was concentrated in border towns and alternative routes, which provided peace of mind to both residents and tourists who traveled during this long weekend.
El Regional Director of the Iquique Customs, Cristian Molina Silva, highlighted the procedure and the advantages of operational deployments. “The synergy that is generated is very positive and the results reflect the effectiveness of combating organized crime. This is the fourth operation that we have developed in the context of Supreme Decree No. 78 and through our powers to act in secondary areas,” he said.
In response to the above, the official explained: “To date we have seized items ranging from clothing and technology to rifles and air pistols.”
