Promoting the greatest possible number of good environmental practices in the daily work of all public bodies is the objective of the “Green State” programme, which is developed and coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment.
“In this context of joint effort, last March the National Customs Service joined this initiative by signing an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment, with which it begins its accreditation process,” the official statement said on Wednesday (13.07.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX).
According to Chilean Customs, the program seeks to ensure that institutions “environmental self-management is encouragedl ".
The initiative is an opportunity to ensure that “both physical facilities and processes reflect environmental care policies and principles.”
“One of the main axes to achieve this is by empowering public officials to incorporate simple habits related to the environmental variable into their daily work, but which can have a great impact, particularly in relation to the efficient use of office materials, waste management, water and energy consumption, among many others,” the statement said.
He said that in the first phase, the institutional building at Sotomayor 60, located in the city of Valparaíso, will apply for accreditation. Later, the Regional Customs Offices and the rest of the National Directorate's offices will be incorporated.
“Green State” Committee
To this end, Customs indicated that formal work began with the constitution of the “Green State Institutional Committee”, which is made up of representatives from various units. In this first stage – lasting 6 months – a diagnosis and an annual plan will be drawn up.
