Chaco: Agricultural product exports increased in the first half of the year

Between January and July 2018, the province of Chaco exported 26.719,4 tons of various agricultural products, a significant increase compared to the same period of the previous year, when shipments recorded by the National Service for Food Health and Quality (Senasa) totaled 3780 tons of cotton fiber.

Main products 

The main agricultural products exported were corn (15.780,9 tons), wheat (4.761,2 tons), cotton (3.298,3 tons) and rice whole grain (2.879 tons)

What was the reason?

The increase in tons exported directly from the province of Chaco is due to the reactivation of the three port terminals from Barranqueras and Puerto Vilelas.

In addition to the routine tasks that Senasa agents were carrying out at the port, the activities of control of primary products (rice, wheat, corn) and their corresponding certification.

Shipping destination

The destination countries of shipments from Chaco were Uruguay (15.925,2920 tons), Brazil (4.960,1880 tons), Bolivia (2.879,2900 tons), Indonesia (2.004,0300 tons), Vietnam  (515,9700 tons), Türkiye (257,1200 tn), Pakistan (77,950 tons), Thailand (77,170 tons) and Colombia (22,8 tons).

Corn, cotton and rice

Grain exports from corn to Uruguay for industrial use, were carried out by land and river. The same way and destination were followed by the wheat grains sent to Brazil, although in this case it was production from the province of Santa Fe collected in Chaco.

The production cotton plant was exported in two variables; fibers for industrial use (3.154 tn) to the following destinations: Indonesia (2.004,0300 tn), Vietnam (515,9700 tn), Turkey (257,1200 tn), Brazil (198,8900 tn), Pakistan (77,9500 tn), Thailand (77,1700 tn), and Colombia (22,8900 tn); and in grain for animal consumption (144,3200 tn) exported to Uruguay by land.

Finally, the grains of rice The whole grains were destined for Bolivia and were transported by road and by river. Their declared use was for human and industrial consumption.
