The Brazilian Government, through the Official Gazette of the Union, published on Tuesday (03.09.2024) a resolution designating the private sector representatives selected to join the Cooperation Subcommittee of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation (Confac). These representatives, elected in accordance with Gecex Resolution No. 567 of February 19, 2024, will act as permanent guests without voting rights.
Confac is a key body for promoting trade facilitation in Brazil, with the aim of improving the efficiency of import and export operations, contributing to a more harmonized approach to international trade. The committee is made up of the Executive Subcommittee, the Cooperation Subcommittee and the Local Commissions for Trade Facilitation.
The Subcommittee on Cooperation, in particular, plays a key role in identifying inefficiencies and obstacles in procedures related to foreign trade. Through proposals and recommendations, this subcommittee seeks solutions that simplify the procedures, requirements and controls that affect the import and export of goods and services.
The selection of the private sector representatives was the result of a process that generated great interest, with more than 70 applications received. The final choice to fill the positions was 10 vacancies available It considered experience, institutional representation and an inclusive approach, seeking equity in terms of gender, race and regional distribution.

According to official information, the meetings of this subcommittee may be held in person or remotely. However, in the case of face-to-face meetings in Brasilia, travel expenses will not be covered. In addition, the participation of members will be considered an unpaid public service, as established by Decree No. 11.717, of September 28, 2023.
