Paraguay and Brazil held third bilateral meeting on border operations

Within the framework of the Customs Affairs Committee of the Mercosur Trade Commission (CT No. 2), representatives of Paraguay and Brazil held the Third Local Bilateral Meeting of the Subcommittee on Border Controls and Operations, reported official sources.

The meeting was held on Tuesday (22.11.2022) in Ciudad de Este (Paraguay), an opportunity in which the Projects for the Border Headquarters Center and Cargo Terminal of the National Navigation and Ports Administration (ANNP) and the work in the area was announcede header works of the International Integration Bridge.

In this regard, Paraguay expressed its agreement regarding the progress of the works, at the Paraguayan side of the Integration Bridge, to implement the first stage of the passage of ballast trucks from Brazil to Paraguay in the first half of December of this year.

Representatives of the control agencies also addressed aspects related to the need to give priority to the export of Paraguayan perishable products in the Multilog Dry Port (Brazil).

According to Time, established by that port for the release of cargo during the World Cup, the following was specified: games held during business hours 12 am: no files or releases will be made; games played during business hours 13 pm: the files will be made until 11 am and in the games played during office hours 16 pm: the files will be made until 14 pm. Meanwhile, the night operations will not be affected in their established schedule. As for the days holidays In Brazil and Paraguay, it was proposed that trucks be received at the Ports' premises, after prior communication for coordination between both parties.

Participants

The event was attended by representatives from the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the Federal Highway Police, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, the National Customs Directorate, the National Navigation and Ports Administration, the National Transport Directorate, the General Directorate of Immigration and the National Service for Quality and Health of Plants and Seeds.

Also present at the meeting were the Administrator of Customs of Ciudad del Este - International Bridge of Friendship, Juan Carlos Amarilla, the Deputy Administrator of Customs of Ciudad del Este, Rubén Talavera, the Coordinator of the Eastern Zone, Leandro Leguizamón, the Director of Customs Procedures, Cristian Paredes, Head of the Central Safekeeping Department, Miguel Caballero and of the MERCOSUR Department, Juana Rodríguez.
