In a context of growing interest in expanding economic cooperation with Central Europe, Argentina and the Czech Republic agreed on the need to strengthen their trade relationship with a focus on industry, technology and investment.
The proposal was made during the meeting “Business with the Czech Republic”, organized on Thursday (13.04.2026) by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC), which brought together in Buenos Aires businessmen and authorities from both countries, including Czech President Petr Pavel and Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno.
During the event, the complementary nature of both economies was highlighted: Argentina contributes natural resources, agro-industry and energy, while the Czech Republic positions itself as an industrial hub with strong development in engineering, manufacturing and applied technology.
In that framework, the Chancellor Quirno He stated that the bilateral relationship “has room to grow seriously” and stressed that “the window is open now” for Czech companies to invest in the country.
In turn, the President Petr Pavel He highlighted the shared values between both nations and the potential of the relationship with the European Union, especially following the agreement with Mercosur, which could reduce barriers and boost trade.
Bilateral trade: growth and potential
The data on trade between the two countries, provided to Customs News by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC), show a strong expansion in recent decades. Between 1993 and 2025, bilateral trade grew by more than 10.300%, with an average annual growth rate of 15,3%., driven mainly by Argentine imports from Czechia.
In 2025, trade reached USD 218 million, 14% more than in 2024, consolidating the recent recovery.
The Argentine exports totaled USD 12,5 million (+ 31,8 %), with a predominance of products such as wool (28,8%), shelled peanuts (8,5%), and yerba mate (6,2%). Meanwhile, the imports from the Czech Republic totaled USD 205 million (+ 13,1%), highlighting industrial goods such as injection pumps (8,2%), radiators (2,5%) and filtration equipment (2,3%).
Despite the improvement, local exports remain below historical levels, highlighting a significant trade imbalance. However, this gap also reflects the potential to deepen the bilateral relationship through export diversification, increased value-added production, and the development of projects in strategic sectors.
Within that frameworkThe Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services and the Confederation of Industries of the Czech Republic signed a memorandum all with to promote economic exchange and cooperation, with a focus on investments and added value.
