The customs administrations of Argentina and Peru exchanged experiences with the aim of improving their capabilities and collecting best practices in Coordinated Border Management, the World Customs Organization reported on Tuesday (19.07.2022).
According to the statement, the study visit of the Peruvian officials, led by SUNAT, was carried out from July 12-15 al Posadas-Encarnacion border post (Argentina) and Santo Tomé-Sao Borja border post (Brazil) under the Global Trade Facilitation Programme of the OMA – DRYThis flagship capacity building project is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by the World Customs Organization (WCO).

Coordinated Border Management involves the coordination of public and private sector services with the aim of improving fiscal control, border security and facilitation of trade, as well as the transit of people, within a framework of effectiveness and efficiency in the use of resources.
In this regard, the WCO highlighted the efforts made in terms of technical assistance and capabilities: “the event successfully promoted the exchange of experiences and lessons learned between the Customs of Peru and Argentina.”
In this way, Peruvian officials had the opportunity to work with Argentine experts to design possible solutions to improve border posts related to foreign trade in the Andean country.WCO Press Release)
