Argentina and the US advance in electronic phytosanitary certification

The office of the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa) at the Ezeiza International Airport verified the Importation of a shipment of corn seeds originating in the United States (USA) supported by the electronic phytosanitary certificateco (ePhyto).

According to the statement, this is a pilot test – agreed with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) – by which Both organizations will use this type of digital certification in the exchange of products to make the necessary adjustments.s to replace traditional paper printing, in order to facilitate trade and maintain phytosanitary safety.

Inspector Cristian Senlle, from the Metropolitan Regional Center, carried out the usual verification of the merchandise and documentary control, and incorporated into the procedure the search – through the ePhytos viewer – of the electronic certificates issued by the US agencyThis bilateral action will be complemented by the certification in the United States of an Argentine shipment under the same modality.

ePhyto Solution Initiative

These actions were carried out within the framework of the international project called “ePhyto Solution”, initiative of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) which encourages related organizations in member countries to implement and develop electronic phytosanitary certificates for the exchange of goods, replacing the current paper format.
