Argentina and Canada signed a customs agreement

The head of AFIP, Alberto Abad, signed an agreement on mutual assistance in customs matters with the Canadian ambassador to Argentina, Roberto Fry, to prevent illicit activities and guarantee the security of the international trade chain between both nations.

The head of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP), Alberto Abad, signed an agreement between the governments of Canada and Argentina on mutual assistance in customs matters, with Robert Fry, Canadian ambassador to Argentina, with the aim of preventing illicit activities and guaranteeing the security of the international trade chain between both nations.

The signing took place on Monday (15.05.2017) at the Canadian Embassy in our country, on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development of Canada, Jean-Yves Duclos.

After the signature, Abad highlighted that thanks to this agreement: “We will be able to exchange information related to anti-fraud techniques that have already proven to be effective and that will help us evaluate the risks of new criminal practices that may occur. All of this, based on the transparency and confidentiality of the data that we will exchange.".

To its turn, Fry stressed that the signed document "It will allow the sharing of information with a view to preventing, investigating and combating customs crimes and providing reciprocal assistance to ensure compliance with the corresponding customs laws."".
