Last February, Argentina recorded a trade surplus of 809 million, official sources reported this Wednesday (23.03.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX).
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec), the volume of trade (exports plus imports) increased by 42,3% year-on-year in February, to a value of USD 12.077 million.
According to official data, in February the country completed exports for USD 6.443 million, a 34,9% more that in the same month of 2021, marked by the rise in prices (20,4%) and of the quantities (12,0%).
All sectors recorded growth: fuels and energy (CyE), 116,4%; primary products (PP), 72,0%; manufactures of industrial origin (MOI), 35,0%; and manufactures of agricultural origin (MOA), 4,1%.
Meanwhile, the imports totaled USD 5.634 million, which represented a year-on-year increase of 51,7%.
All import uses grew, except for passenger vehicles, which fell 23,7% year-on-year. The increase in purchases abroad was driven by fuels and lubricants (420,8% year-on-year), intermediate goods (38,8%) and parts and accessories (40,3% year-on-year).
In February, the main destinations of Argentine exports were: Brazil, United States, Netherlands, China, Chile, India, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Peru and Vietnam, in that order, which together accounted for 57,1% of total foreign sales.
The Main countries of origin of the imports were: China, Brazil, United Statess, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Thailand and Paraguay, which accounted for 68,3% of total foreign purchases. (Argentine Trade Report, February 2022)
