Argentina recorded a trade surplus of 1.820 billion dollars last April, with which the country follows the trend that has been observed since last December with positive results, INDEC reported on Tuesday (21.05.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX).
The agency said the figure released was a 15% drop compared to the USD 2.059 billion obtained last March.
The INDEC explained that the figure was due to the exports obtained in April, which increased by 10,7% compared to the previous month to total USD 6.527 million.
This result was mainly due to a 21,6% increase in quantities, while prices fell by 9,0%. In fact, sales of primary products (53,8%), fuel and energy shipments (44,4%) and agricultural manufactures (4,3%) increased. On the other hand, exports of industrial manufactures fell (15,7%).
imports reached USD 4.708 million in April, a 22,7% decrease compared to April 2023, caused by falls in both quantities and prices, which were in the order of 16,4% and 7,7%, respectively.
Thus, the import of fuels and lubricants (58,9%), intermediate goods (22,4%), capital goods (15%), parts and accessories for capital goods (17,6%) and consumer goods (15,8%) decreased.

Main partners
As for the main trading partners, exports to Brazil were USD 1.056 million and imports reached USD 1.059 million, with a negative balance of USD 3 million.
According to the European Union Statistical data show that our country exported USD 519 million and imported USD 717 million, leaving an unfavorable balance of USD 247 million.
In that line, it is found ChinaStatistical data indicate that our country exported USD 391 million, but imported USD 730 million, resulting in a deficit of USD 339 million.
However, Argentina achieved positive balances with United States (USD 55 million); in detail: exports amounted to 593 million and purchases were made for USD 538 million.
Argentina managed to achieve this positive trend with ALADI countries.
