Argentina guarantees natural gas exports to Chile until the end of 2024

-

Argentina announced this Monday (11.09.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) that it will guarantee the Uninterrupted export of natural gas to Chile until the end of 2024 within the framework of the consolidation of its energy integration program with the neighboring country.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was authorized Natural gas exports to Chile in uninterrupted volumes for the summer season, October 2023–April 2024, for 9 million cubic meters per day from the Neuquén basin (GasAndes); for the subsequent winter season, for up to 5 million cubic meters per day, and from October to December 2024 for up to 9 million cubic meters per day from the central zone.

In this way, Argentina "annualizes its exportable gas supply, with sufficient advance notice so that Chilean buyers can optimize their decision-making," the statement stressed.

"Firm natural gas exports since 2020 with the launch of the Gas.Ar Plan have strengthened Argentina's relationship and credibility as a supplier," the Foreign Ministry said.

The decision was made in the context of the events for the 50th anniversary of the coup against the government of Salvador Allende, which is commemorated on September 11.

The measure means the "Consolidation of an energy integration programme» with Chile, which also seeks to confirm Argentina's growing role as a stable supplier of energy from the production of the Vaca Muerta unconventional hydrocarbon formation.

During the summer period, between October 2022 and April 2023, firm exports were authorized by the Gas.Ar Plan for 9 million cubic meters per day from the Neuquén basin (GasAndes) and, through assistance agreements, YPF exports 0,3 million cubic meters per day through Pacífico and 1,3 million cubic meters per day through Methanex.
