Argentina appoints a Special Attaché in the Commercial/Customs Area at its Embassy in the U.S.

The Argentine Government appointed Esteban Marzorati as Special Attaché in the Commercial/Customs Area at the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in the United States through the Decree 121 / 2026, published this Monday (27.03.2026) in the Official Gazette.

The measure aims to "strengthen bilateral cooperation" in trade and customs matters, within the framework of the modernization of the national customs system, geared towards facilitating foreign trade, digitizing processes and adopting international standards for risk control and management.

The new add-on will act as “technical link"between Argentine agencies and US authorities on issues related to foreign trade, collaborating in institutional coordination, monitoring the bilateral agenda and exchanging information on trade and customs matters."

According to the regulations, the appointment was proposed by the Customs Revenue and Control Agency (ARCA) and will last for two years. During that period, the official will be part of the Argentine diplomatic mission with the rank of Embassy Counselor, a senior position with diplomatic experience and strategic responsibilities to advise the ambassador and coordinate trade and customs relations with the authorities of the host country.

Prior to this appointment, Marzorati served as Secretary of Industry and Commerce at the Ministry of Economy, a position to which he was appointed by Decree 1098/2024, after previously serving as Undersecretary of Foreign Trade. His departure from that role was formalized in 2025 by Decree 589/2025.

The decree was signed by President Javier Milei and Ministers Luis Caputo and Pablo Quirno.

With this appointment, Argentina seeks to consolidate its technical presence in Washington, strengthening trade and customs coordination with one of its main international partners.
