Argentine Customs continues to deepen its technological modernization process through the expansion of Customs Portal (PAD), A computer system that integrates and optimizes operational processes at the country's borders, allowing for faster entry and exit of transport vehicles and goods, while strengthening information traceability and the efficiency of customs management.
According to official information, the development is part of the digitization strategy promoted by the agency to modernize border controls and move towards a more coordinated management of land-based foreign trade.
Customs highlighted that “the Customs Portal (PAD) continues to consolidate itself as a key tool to modernize and simplify customs management"noting that its progressive implementation allowed for the optimization of millions of operations and improved the quality of border management through greater traceability of information.
System integration
To that end, the PAD expansion process recently incorporated new transactions that were previously carried out in other customs systems, moving towards a more unified operating scheme.
According to the agency, “the expansion of the PAD has led to further progress, incorporating more transactions that were previously carried out in other customs systems.” These developments involved the Customs Process Reengineering Directorate (DI REPA), along with the Customs Systems Development Department and the Customs Systems Homologation Department, both under the Customs Systems Directorate (DI SADU).
Among the most relevant advances is the integration of functions of the Malvina Computer System (YES). In particular, “functions of the Malvina Computer System (SIM) were integrated, such as the presentation of the Computerized Cargo Manifest (MANI ballast) together with the collection of the Reduced Rate (TARE)”, which allowed a 55% reduction in the computer registration time for these operations.
Another significant advance was the Integration of the International Customs Transit Information System (SYNTHIA) through the Arrival Confirmation with TARE charge for the processing of the Argentine International Cargo Manifest (MIC), a mandatory document used in South America to register international land transport of goods.
In that regard, the official communication indicated that “the International Customs Transit Information System (SINTIA) was integrated with the Arrival Confirmation with TARE collection for the processing of the Argentine International Cargo Manifest (MIC),” thus enabling Each operation went from 100 to 55 seconds, a 45% reduction in processing times.
Automation in regional transit
Likewise, the Automatic generation of SINTIA events, both for operations with a final destination in Argentina and for those in which the country acts as a transit territory.
Particularly, In transits called Chile–Chile —where the origin and destination are in Chile but the route crosses Argentine territory— “the processing time was reduced from two minutes to just 20 seconds per operation”, achieving an 83% improvement.
This automation helps reduce operational delays and improve the flow of regional logistics corridors.
Towards a digital and integrated Customs
The agency emphasized that “the incorporation of new transactions into the PAD not only represents a substantial advance in optimizing the border control and registration process, but also strengthens a smarter, more integrated, and more efficient management model.” The improvements directly impact operational flows, reduce waiting times, and enhance traceability. “a key step on the path towards a comprehensive digitalization projected for 2026, aligned with the strategic objectives of modernizing the customs service.”
