Argentina reached 4th place as wheat flour exporter

-

The elimination of withholdings and export restrictions favoured wheat production, and this had an impact on the greater industrialisation of our country's most traditional cereal.

In this way it is consolidated an increase of 72% above the average of the last three years, considering that shipments in the first nine months of 3 and 2014 were 2015 and 194.061 tons respectively.

The removal of withholdings and export restrictions promoted Argentina to reach fourth place as a world exporter in 2016, with 621.196 tons sold mainly to Brazil (351.000 tons), Bolivia (245.520 tons) and Chile (18.300 tons); regaining a prominence that the country had lost in global trade. In this sense, it is important to remember that in 2015 the country occupied the 27th position among exporters of this cereal by-product.

It is worth noting that in 2017, a 3% rebate was granted on wheat flour sales, with a percentage reaching 4% for fractionated flour, with the aim of boosting its competitiveness.

Moreover, Wheat flour production increased by 5% between January and September this year, compared to the same period last year, growing from 3.089.784 to 3.240.367 tons.

The increase was made possible by a greater industrialization of cereals, which climbed 5%, from 4.120.088 tons to 4.303.825 tons in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period in 2016; configuring a value-added process that allows Argentina to have processed products for export.
