Procedure for the allocation and administration of the concentrated grape juice quota destined for the United States is approved

-

The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation and the National Institute of Viticulture approved the procedure for the allocation and administration of the maximum volume of concentrated white grape juice destined for the United States, through the Joint Resolution No. 1/2023.

The regulations, published today (10.05.2023), establish the expected parameters that will be applicable for the periods of export 2023/2024 onwards.

This is an important product for the economy of the Cuyo region, of which our country is the main exporter to the United States.

According to the regulations, the allocation of the quota is eight million gallons (8.000.000 gal) equivalent to forty thousand four hundred metric tons (40.400 tm.) of concentrated white grape juice that will be distributed annually up to 99% according to the quantities agreed by the private sector and notified to the Enforcement Authority by the Argentine Chamber of Manufacturers and Exporters of Musts (CAFEM).

This volume is in line with Argentina's historical export averages to this destination.

It is recalled that on April 20, 2022, the governments of the United States and Argentina signed a Suspension Agreement of the investigation initiated by that country due to alleged subsidies on Argentine concentrated white grape juice exported to the US market.

This type of agreement is provided for in the World Trade Organization's Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, which is incorporated into the national legal system of both countries.

In this way, export stability is preserved without trade barriers, giving predictability to shipments of concentrated white grape juice to the United States.
