In the framework of a meeting held at the ARBA headquarters, in the city of La Plata, the AFIP and the Buenos Aires Tax Agency signed this Monday (20.02.2017) a commitment of collaboration aimed at deepen joint actions to simplify procedures of the taxpayers, fight tax evasion and formalize the economy.

The agreement will allow progress in the Use of a single taxpayer registry and harmonize the list of economic activities in order to expedite everything related to the registration, modification or cancellation of tax obligations.

In addition, they pledged to encourage exchanges of information, and improve the quality of databases that they share, in order to enhance the detection of undeclared assets and economic activities.

In another order, both Agencies will analyze the possibility of implementing a unified sworn statement and interconnecting their databases through web services.

The agreement was endorsed by the federal administrator of Public Revenue, Alberto Abad, and the director of the Buenos Aires Revenue Agency, Gastón Fossati, and provides for, strengthen control strategies, the exchange of data on taxpayers with high tax risk profiles, based on the non-compliance detected.

Includes the use of cooperation mechanisms intended for the sworn statements submitted to both bodies are correct and consistent with each other.

In this regard, Abad said, "We have agreed to deepen a set of actions that aim to provide better services to taxpayers and work together to formalize our society, which is a key issue to continue lowering tax pressure."

In this regard, the official stressed that "the reduction of tax pressure requires that more and more people who are in the informal sector become formal and start paying their taxes."

For his part, Fossati stated that the agreement "reflects the willingness to work together and integrate our technological capabilities to manage with efficiency, promote the voluntary compliance of the taxpayers and provide them best services".

He also said that "the fact of joining forces, carrying out joint controls and sharing tax data enables us to complement our work and move towards greater transparency and fiscal formalization, expanding the base of taxpayers of Gross Income and VAT."
