Panama Customs presented the Portcel Project to logistics companies

The National Customs Authority (ANA) held the official presentation of the Portcel project virtually on Friday (07.10.2022), an event in which representatives of shipping agencies, shipping companies, freight forwarders, land freight transporters, and customs broker agents participated, in order to publicize the benefits and objectives of this new technological tool.

Rodolfo Samuda, technical deputy director of the entity, expressed his satisfaction to the participants on behalf of the Customs management team, for their participation in this phase 1 of this project with which customs on behalf of the National Government will expedite trade facilitation, specifically at this stage related to the maritime transport sector.

The Customs technical team presented the project and explained what it consists of and what its benefits will be.

The Foreign Trade and Logistics Technology Portal, known as “Portcel”, is an intergovernmental website that offers the exchange of information between public institutions and private actors, such as shipping companies. It also has information on the maritime cargo manifest for risk analysis and statistics, among others.

Next steps

The start of a Pilot plan with two shipping companies, from October 21, 2022 and January 1, 2023, shipping companies will start using this portal, after having received the corresponding training and made the necessary adjustments to their computer systems.
