Central America trained more than 150 customs officers in ethics, integrity and transparency

More than 150 customs officers of the countries in the Central American region participated last year September 30 at the training workshop "Ethics, Integrity and Transparency", official sources reported.

Led by the Central American Customs Committee, an entity under the Pro Tempore Presidency of Guatemala, the workshop aimed to update the customs work teams of the Central American region on new international trends, framed within the principles of the Revised Arusha Declaration of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

El Pro Tempore President of the Central American Customs Committee and Customs Superintendent of SAT Guatemala, Werner Ovalle Ramírez He highlighted the importance of the workshop for the Customs administrations of Central America, which recently signed a declaration of ethics and transparency, taking into consideration the different efforts that have been made in the Americas and the Caribbean region, within the framework of the World Customs Organization. "This initiative is part of the will and coordinated work between the Customs Directors to make this topic a cross-cutting axis of the work that the different customs are carrying out in the regional plan.«he clarified.

Joint effort is key to achieving a specific result. In this regard, Werner Ovalle emphasized the importance of putting these principles into practice in the actions of customs officials, and of sharing the vision with the different actors in the logistics chain in order to work and generate an ecosystem of ethics, integrity and transparency in favor of national and regional trade.
