-

The National Customs Directorate of Uruguay and the General Customs Directorate of the Republic of El Salvador signed this Thursday (15.08.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation with the aim of strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the two customs offices.

According to a statement issued by the Uruguayan customs authority, the agreement was signed by its head, Jaime Borgiani, and his Salvadoran counterpart, José Benjamín Mayorga Osorio.

The same source stated that the signing of this instrument means that both entities can provide technical assistance and cooperation, through the effective exchange of information and experiences between specialized officials, which allows them to develop joint actions to promote customs digitalization and modernization, as well as to create the necessary conditions that allow the mutual recognition of the status of Authorized Economic Operator, among other issues.

The customs authorities agree that the signing of this instrument will allow their law enforcement agencies to align modern and common measures and schemes that contribute to facilitating safe foreign trade.
