The Customs authorities of Ecuador and Uruguay signed in the last hours of Wednesday (22.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) a Action plan to specify a Mutual Recognition Agreement of both Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, which will ensure and facilitate the supply chain.
According to the National Customs Directorate of Uruguay, the action is part of the work in cooperation of customs administrations which makes it possible to achieve this objective.
Using this mechanism, the signed document contains a Roadmap to advance the various stages and technical instances necessary for the evaluation of the compatibility of both AEO Programs, the negotiation of an agreement text, as well as the operational procedures for the implementation of the Mutual Recognition Agreement between the two customs administration programs.
“It is expected that the work to be carried out in this area will increase the mutual trust, contributing to more effective customs control, increasing the level of customs security of foreign trade operations carried out between both countries," highlighted the Uruguayan Customs.
The signing of the aforementioned Action Plan took place within the framework of the III International Meeting “Customs Agents: Bridging Borders”, held in Ecuador.
