Chilean Customs intercepts 7 travelers with ketamine

Chilean authorities intercepted on Tuesday (13.02.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) seven international travelers at the El Loa outpost (dependent on the Iquique Customs) when they were trying to leave the Tarapacá region with a total of 9 kilos 401 grams of ketamine. They were hiding the drugs in their shoes, underwear and bags.

It was reported that the detection was carried out by inspectors of the National Customs Service, who based on risk profiles and with the support of Canes specialists managed to find the illicit substance whose destination was Santiago.

The Customs report indicates that the first to be intercepted were the baker, the cashier and the saleswoman, who They were traveling from Iquique to Santiago by bus and they were carrying a total of 2 kilos of ketamine powder. The bricklayer and the lady of the house used the same route and modus operandi, who were carrying among their clothes six packages with a total of 254 kilos 3 grams of the same drug. Finally, the customs officers seized the motorcycle taxi driver and the receptionist with 142 kilo 1 grams and 898 kilos 2 grams of ketamine, respectively.

For these facts, the drug and the defendants, all of Venezuelan nationality, were handed over via chain of custody to the Investigative Police for transfer to the Iquique Guarantee Court.
