The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) made progress in establishing new reference values for the export of lemon essential oil, through the General Resolution 5091/2021 published today in the Official Gazette.
To the 18 product complexes for which new reference values were set since the beginning of Silvia Traverso's management at the head of Customs, the one for the export of lemon essential oil.
Argentina is the world's leading exporter of lemon essential oils, and sales abroad of this product, which is used as an ingredient in perfumery and food, are around US$200 million annually.
"Tools such as reference values favor production and help to dismantle tax evasion maneuvers and abusive practices that affect the entry of foreign currency into the exchange market," Traverso said in a statement.
In order to establish the reference values for lemon essential oil, Customs carried out an analysis of the evolution of prices in international markets.
The countries for which these values apply are: Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Canada and the United States.
This definition is added to the reestablishment of 18 other reference prices of product complexes for which reference values were already set since the beginning of Traverso's management, in December 2019.
Reference values were established for the export of blanched peanuts, dried plums, limes and lemons, shrimp, hides and skins, pears, apples, garlic, pork, pear tomatoes, concentrated must, blueberries, powdered milk, onions, potatoes, raisins, sea bass and beef.
