As part of the activities planned within the Action Plan for the signing of the Mercosur – Pacific Alliance Mutual Recognition Agreement, From November 28 to December 2, the validation visit by the Mexican Customs took place in the City of Buenos Aires, to determine the compatibility of both Operator Programs
Economic Enforcement Agency (OAS), official sources reported.
The National Customs Directorate indicated that visits were made to two exporting companies that are in the process of being categorized as OEA SECURITY, so that the Mexican Customs could participate as an observer of the validation processes and observe the methodology and criteria used by the Argentine Customs to verify compliance with the security requirements established in the current regulations.
In this context, an Argentine Customs official, specialist in validation procedures, previously participated in a visit to Mexican Customs.
As a result of these validation tasks, the Mexican Customs concluded that there is compatibility between both AEO programs.
Thus, lArgentine Customs is in a position to sign the MERCOSUR-Pacific Alliance Mutual Recognition Agreement among the programs
of the OAS and the respective authorized operators.
The OEA program was implemented through General Resolution 5107/2021. This voluntary initiative of cooperation between customs agencies and private sector firms seeks to strengthen the security of the international trade logistics chain through the implementation of security standards, in accordance with the guidelines established within the SAFE Regulatory Framework, granting benefits to those operators who manage to obtain the categorization.
Currently, Argentina has 5 OEA SECURITY, 40 OEA SIMPLIFICATION and 27 OEA COMPLIANCE, according to the National Customs Directorate.
