The General Directorate of Customs announced this Wednesday (11.10.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) a Update of safety and quality requirements in the import control system, to which products intended for marketing in the territory of the Argentine Republic must conform.
With the new modifications, importers will have to detail within the “Import System of the Argentine Republic” (SIRA), information on the quality and safety of the products they wish to bring into the country. “Once this data is controlled by the enforcement authority, the file can be unblocked,” Customs clarified.
Thus, operators will have to declare the file number granted by the Electronic Document Management System (GDE) that is generated when the certificates and the approval number of the National Directorate of Technical Regulations that arises from the GDE when they place the order.
Then, the National Directorate of Technical Regulations will intervene and will have 60 calendar days to issue it. In addition, it will not be necessary to present the documentation in paper format since all the data is in the SIRA.
Customs said it had detected attempts to present false certificates and had therefore improved its procedures.
So, such decision was published on October 11 by Joint General Resolution 5429/2023 of the AFIP and the Ministry of Commerce for entry into force 30 days for imports of steel products, household appliances, LED lamps and graphic products, among others.
Meanwhile, to the 60 days The same will be mandatory for personal protection items, lighters, children's bicycles, toys and sunglasses, among others.
