Thailand's Trade Minister Jurin Laksanavisit called for greater efforts by the economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) to address future crises and achieve better and more inclusive economic growth in the region.

“I strongly hope that the outcome of this meeting will include a strong policy stance regarding the recovery of the regional economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, from where we must emerge stronger than ever to face future crises,” Jurin said at the APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade held on Saturday and Sunday (May 21-22, 2022)

Thailand is hosting APEC 2022, under the theme “Open. Connect. Balance.”

The Thai official urged member economies to advance the work of the forum to deepen economic integration and consolidate the progress of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).

He also reiterated the importance of resuming safe and convenient cross-border travel and promoting digital and supply chain connectivity, taking into account environmental protection and strengthening food and agricultural security to ensure the well-being of the region's population.
