The Eastern Republic of Uruguay, through the National Customs Directorate, reported that it provided customs technical assistance on Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE) to Bolivia.
"Within the framework of the COMALEP Agreement, the Customs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia requested assistance and cooperation from the National Customs Directorate to understand the process that led to the implementation of the Single Window for Foreign Trade," the document states.
In this regard, the International Affairs areas of both customs administrations
maintained contacts at a technical level to learn about the needs of the Bolivian Customs. As a result of this articulation, held a Workshop by Dr. Viviana González (Director of the Trade Facilitation Department) and representatives of the Single Window for Foreign Trade (Ms. Daniela Vignolo and Lic. Juan Juncal).
Around 1,000 people participated in the activity. 20 officials from the Bolivian National Customs, including Technology and Process Managers.
Thus, Uruguay shared its experience on the activities carried out since 2013 within the framework of the Modernization Project of the National Customs Directorate to begin the implementation of the VUCE, its creation, investment and operating budget, relationship with the different national organizations that participate in foreign trade and documents processed through the VUCE.
The Uruguayan Customs Office also added that it referred to the challenges that had to be faced and the lessons learned.
It should be remembered that the Multilateral Customs Convention of Latin America, Spain and Portugal
(COMALEP) was established as a useful instrument to strengthen mutual assistance in the fight against fraud and cooperation, as well as the increase and development of trade between the parties; it was signed in Mexico City (DF) on September 11, 1981.
