Paraguay and Brazil will sign an agreement for border logistics centers

The authorities of Paraguay and Brazil will sign this Wednesday (16.09.2020) the memorandum of understanding for the installation of centers for the collection of purchases, which will operate in the main border cities.

Is online shopping storage sites and people from both sides of the border will only be able to cross to pick up merchandise, explained Foreign Minister Antonio Rivas.

Purchases can be made online and will be up to $500, maintaining the current tourism purchasing regime. The centers will operate in Ciudad del Este, Salto del Guairá and Pedro Juan Caballero.

Although the Government is studying a protocol for the opening of borders with time and movement restrictions, the foreign minister said that this measure will first come into effect and then be repealed once the borders are gradually opened.

He said the signing of this agreement was the result of two months of work and discussions with national authorities and the border states of Brazil.

He told Radio Nacional that A similar proposal has been put forward to the Argentine government. and a response is awaited to begin discussions.
