The Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) of Paraguay signed agreements with the Customs Directorate and the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP) to set up its offices in the Chaco region bordering Bolivia.
In view of the Bioceanic Corridor project, which will cross the Central Chaco area, the MOPC will grant the usufruct of its facilities to both institutions.
For the Customs Directorate (DNA), the usufruct of the facilities in the Infanta Rivarola area was agreed, through an agreement signed by its director, Julio Fernández, and the Minister of Public Works, Arnoldo Wiens.
Likewise, Minister Wiens met with ANNP executives to request that the institution install a port terminal in Infante Rivarola, Pozo Colorado and Carmelo Peralta.
The objective is to have a presence of both institutions in this area of Chaco, where greater commercial dynamism is expected from the Bioceanic Corridor. Currently, construction is underway on Section 1 of the Corridor, which runs from Carmelo Peralta to Loma Plata.
In addition, an international bridge with Brazil will be built in the Carmelo Peralta area, to be financed by Itaipu Binacional.
