Panama and Belgium strengthen their bilateral relations in customs matters

The Director General of the National Customs Authority (ANA), Tayra Barsallo, has met with the General Administrator of Customs and Excise of Belgium, with the aim of strengthening the exchange of information and common strategies, ANA said in a statement released on Tuesday (26.06.2023). 

At the bilateral meeting, the head of the ANA presented to the Belgian Customs team, the efforts that Panama is developing in the fight against organized crime, common strategies were also shared and information was provided on the components of the security project "Invisible Shield".

The institution said the mission included a tour to the port of Antwerp and the largest container terminal in Europe, “MSC PSA”, where he shared with operational staff, and was also explained the development of operational work in the port area, the handling of scanners and security measures that are being implemented.

The Belgian delegation also included Liesbet Fransen, General Adviser of the General Policy Department, Evelyne Moors, International Affairs Attaché of the General Policy Department, and Carine Willems, Customs Attaché from Brasilia.
