Ovalle led the Seminar on Authorized Economic Operator for Central America

The Superintendent of Customs of the Republic of Guatemala and Pro Tempore President of the Customs Administrations of Central America, Werner Ovalle, began this Wednesday (03.11.2021) the Training on the topic of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) that is carried out to strengthen the AEO Teams of the agencies of the countries of that region.

At the opening of the meeting, Ovalle said: “This training is provided by the CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program of the CBP of the United States of America and the World Organization BASC” and maintained that the objective is the “strengthening the capacities of the AEO teams of the Customs Administrations of the Central American region and sharing knowledge and experiences on the subject of the Authorized Economic Operator.”

On the other hand, the Superintendency of Tax Administration of Guatemala explained to Customs News that the “Guatemala Customs Administration, as the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Customs Administrations of Central America, managed with the Customs Directors of our region the authorization to advance said training, considering the offer of support from the CTPAT program.” In this regard, he indicated that “the Customs Directors of Central America gave their authorization, so this is an achievement of the management of the PPT of Guatemala.” Regarding this, he said that “the OAS team of Guatemala will participate in the training.”

The seminar will discuss various topics, including “Sharing improvements to the United States CTPAT program with the Central American region”, “Sharing experiences and knowledge between OAS programs” and “Knowing the changes made under the coordination of the World Customs Organization to the 2021 version of the WCO SAFE Regulatory Framework”.

Thus, the capacity-building activity promoted by Guatemala will contribute to the better functioning of Central American customs to ensure and facilitate trade.
