All businesses, professionals, health centers, cultural or entertainment centers will have to comply with the obligation to accept debit cards for its operations, in a process that will begin in April and end in December, announced the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP).
The head of the official agency, Alberto Abad, stated that this measure "seeks to comply with the law and will allow the benefits of discounts for retirees and pensioners to be made effective and beneficiaries of social plans who pay by debit card.”
Furthermore, with this measure, “We seek to make the economy more transparent, and expand the taxpayer base to reduce the tax burden," the official added.
During a press conference held at the headquarters of the organization, Abad said that prior to the implementation of the measure, talks were held with all business chambers, such as CAME, CAC and Chinese supermarkets, in order to reach an agreement and apply this Law that dates back to 2001.
The new obligation was made official through the General Resolution 3997 Published this Thursday (23.02.2017) in the Official Gazette
