Mexico is highlighted by the Regional Vice Presidency of the WCO

The Regional Vice Presidency of the World Customs Organization (WCO) announced this Tuesday (12.04.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) that Mexico is the protagonist in the new edition of its bulletin.

In this way, the country located in North America joins the seven administrations highlighted by the WCO, in view of its progress in customs modernization and innovation and its contribution to facilitating trade in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The delivery of the “Featured Country” bulletin was made to the General Director of Customs of Mexico, Horacio Duarte Olivares, who has been in charge of the decentralized body of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit since January 1, 2022.

The publication presents the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), reviewing its history and providing relevant commercial information, such as its foreign trade revenue throughout 2021 and the country's main export and import products.

The newsletter also includes an interview with the Director General of Customs, which discusses the efficiency of his management and the most significant achievements that have been obtained, among other topics.

Horacio Duarte Olivares, explained that the pillars of success are based on the “Transparency and accountability, the fight against corruption and customs planning and modernization”. In this regard, he indicated the achievements of the closing of 2021, highlighting the historic figure of the accumulated collection of Mexican Customs: 1 trillion 3 thousand 951 million 450 pesos. Likewise, Duarte Olivares also highlighted the incorporation of military elements into customs activity, zero tolerance for corruption and the international good practices recommended by the WCO.

When referring to modernization process, the Director General of ANAM said that “strategic decisions are made based on evidence and not by chance.” In this regard, he explained the measurement known as the Mexican Customs Risk Index, the reforms to regulate the informal market for maritime containers, as well as the Manifestation of Value to combat tax evasion and money laundering, among other achievements.
