After three years of absence, Argentina resumes exporting soybean oil to China, through the state-owned company Sinograin, which ships 90.000 tons of this product in three ships anchored in the ports of Santa Fe, located north of Rosario, on the Paraná River.
Port of Tambúes
One of the three shipments is carried out on the ship Staneweco Elegance, anchored in the port of Tinbúes, a town located about 40 kilometers north of Rosario, where it loads 29.000 tons of soybean oil, by the company COFCO.
"This is a great achievement for the Argentine agroindustry and is the result of Strengthening bilateral relations with China. We are recovering a constantly growing market that allows us to increase our value added exports"said the Minister of Agroindustry, Luis Miguel Etchevehere.
Ports of San Benito and General San Martin
This ship will be followed by two others that will be loading in the port of San Benito and in the port of General San Martín, both in the Rosario area. The total in this first stage will be approximately 90.000 tons. with the possibility of a fourth being added shortly.
Background
You have to remember that China had suspended imports of Argentine soybean oil since October 2015, despite continuing its purchases in other markets such as Brazil and the United States, in a context of a decrease in its imports due to the process of replacing them with local Chinese milling.
