SMEs will be able to access the official dollar to pay off their debts starting in February

Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with debts registered in the Registry of Commercial Debt with foreign countries for up to USD500.000 They will have access to the Single and Free Exchange Market (MULC) to settle their foreign trade commitments between February and April 2024.

This measure established this Thursday (25.01.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) and the Ministry of Economy, will affect the 80% of companies that find themselves in that situation.

In a statement, the BCRA and the Ministry of Economy stated that Starting next February 10nd They will be able to access for a maximum period of time up to USD 50.000, from March 10. The Commercial Debt Registry recorded a total of USD 42.600 billion in debt, of which nearly USD 8.500 billion were declared cancelled without access to the exchange market.

Based on this situation - according to the authorities - it was decided to provide an alternative that attempts to completely resolve this critical situation for nearly 10.000 companies, of which more than 5.100 are micro SMEs, nearly 3.900 are small and nearly 1.000 are medium-sized, representing almost 80% of the total universe of MSMEs and more than 70% of the total number of companies registered in the Registry.

The rest of the MSMEs whose commercial debts exceed USD500.000 will have priority access to the BOPREAL Series 2 short-term bond, with amortization flows in dollars between July 2024 and June 2025.

Bonus for importers

On the other hand, the Central Bank held a new tender for the bond for importers, the BOPREAL, with a positive result. “The BCRA reports the result of the fifth tender for the bonds for importers, BOPREAL Series 1, with a record participation of a total of 690 companies that were awarded a total of VN USD 2.454 million. Thus, the aggregate amount subscribed to BOPREAL Series 1 to date is VN USD 4.096 million, with a remaining amount of BOPREAL Series 1 available for up to VN USD 904 million,” the statement said.
