In this regard, the statement indicates that The WCO will continue to work alongside its partners of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), to ensure environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, The WCO will continue to enhance the capacity of its members, such as its network of Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices (RILOs), through the respective Environment Program.

The statement concludes: “Restoring our ecosystems is a massive undertaking that requires a global commitment.” To this end, the WCO and the international customs community are joining global efforts to heal the planet.
