SIECA achieves three certifications that support its reliability in managing Central American integration

-

The Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) has obtained this Tuesday (02.02.2021) for the fifth consecutive year the certification of its Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. Additionally, it extended the certification to Management processes on Information Security 27.001 and Information Technology 20000-1.

This was reported by SIECA, the technical and administrative body of the Central American Economic Integration Process, through its social network Twitter. The delivery of the aforementioned certificates took place within the framework of the Meeting of Vice Ministers of Central American Economic Integration and was carried out Arnulfo Pino, Director of the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR), who indicated that “the institution now has three certifications with international standards that will allow it to better manage the economic integration process.”

The certifications obtained guarantee the integrity, security, traceability and reliability of information and regional IT platforms. These mentions include Management of technical assistance processes in Economic Integration and Trade Facilitation; Customs Services; Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics; Economic Intelligence; Knowledge Management and Trade Promotion; Legal Management; Institutional Communication; Strategic Planning; Administrative and Financial Management, and Information and Communications Technology.

In this regard, the Ambassador Melvin Redondo, in charge of the General Secretariat of SIECA, highlighted that "the institution has ventured into the implementation of these more specialized Management Systems to strengthen support for foreign trade through effective, consistent and reliable services, which provide greater value to the region."

It should be remembered that the role of SIECA in trade has been fundamental in the provision of quality information technology services for the Central American region through the computer platforms that are managed, such as the Central American Single Declaration (DUCA), the Regional Integration System of Sanitary Records (SIRSS) and the Community Information Platform for the Central American Single Declaration and Invoice (PIC-FYDUCA) that thus ensure the continuity of the flow of trade. Due to the importance of its work, one of the priorities of the Secretariat is the incursion into more specialized management systems such as the Information Security and Information Technology Services Management System, in accordance with the international standards ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000-1.

Thus, SIECA, as part of the Central American Integration System (SICA), is the first institution in the public administration sector of the region to achieve these standards that ensure good practices and good governance. The main objective is to provide the countries of Central America with quality technical and administrative assistance in the process of economic integration, under the focus of continuous improvement.
