Tax collection in December showed, for the fourth consecutive month, an interannual growth, according to the  official expectation. Specifically, tax collection increased by 38% to $679,641 billion, the Ministry of Economy reported on Monday (04.01.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX).

From the Ministry of Economy, they said that the boost to a consistent improvement in the level of activity associated with the domestic market and the positive effect of the Law on Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation, sanctioned in December last year. 

In the set of taxes linked to the domestic market (Income, DGI VAT, Credits and Debits, Fuels and Internal Taxes), national collection advanced around 46,3% compared to the same month in 2019 as a result of “what happened with VAT, Income and Internal Taxes”.

“VAT registered an increase of 35,0% yoy, resulting in the highest growth rate observed in the last 10 months and consistent with pre-pandemic levels. For their part, Income Tax and Shared Internal Taxes registered an increase of 62,3% and 54,7,3% yoy, respectively,” indicated the Treasury. In this way, VAT registered growth rates consistent with pre-pandemic levels.

Meanwhile, the collection of the Tax on Credits and Debitss accelerated its margin growth (29,9%). In the accumulated year-to-date 2020, it collected $452,459 million, 29,4% more than last year.

Tax resources linked to the Social Security system registered a rise of 20,9%, raising a total of $4,867 million. Employer contributions amounted to $76,340 million with a year-on-year variation of 23,4%. Meanwhile, employer contributions generated revenues of $54,930 million: 15.3% more than in the same period in 2019.

The collection of the tax on Personal property was $26,290 million (372.3%) due to the income from the third advance for the 2020 fiscal period. Meanwhile, the PAIS tax collected $7,495 million.

While the taxes associated with the foreign trade registered an increase of 9,1%. The collection associated with export duties reached $28,338 million, with a decrease of 55.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. They were affected by the advance of operations registered in the same period of 2019 and the reduction of the rates for various goods and services announced in October. On the other hand, for import duties and statistics tax, $23,648 million were collected, with a difference of 50.7% with the previous year.
