-

The World Customs Organization (WCO) announced on Thursday (03.11.2022) the launch of a website for the publication of the “Compendium of Authorized Economic Operators (AEO)””, which provides specific and structured information on current AEO programs and Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) implemented by WCO members, as well as programs in development.(https://aeo.wcoomd.org)

This initiative, funded by Dubai Customs and the Korea Customs Cooperation Fund (CCF), will replace the annual paper compilation and publication processes.

According to the WCO, the digital version of the OAS Compendium presents the following: and advantages:

  • Members have dedicated and secure access rights, making it easy to enter, update, validate and manage their information in real time;
  • Replaces free text information with structured information that allows searching, harmonizing and eliminating duplications;
  • It enables new ways of viewing, understanding and analysing Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) and Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) related information at multiple levels, including globally, by WCO region and by Member;
  • It offers flexibility and the ability to process, manage and analyze information efficiently and effectively, through a standardized data management structure, resulting in timely and high-quality publication;
  • Save time and resources with automated workflows.

 The Organization clarified that at the 28th Meeting of the SAFE Working Group, WCO members and representatives of the private sector praised the “excellent work” carried out.

“Members can now update information related to the AEO as frequently as possible, and it also allows the website to remain publicly available and user-friendly for all interested parties,” the WCO concluded.
